The obsession with the ancient. Sigmund Freud and Ludwig Pollak between Judaism, archeology and collecting
On Monday 5 July 2021 at 18:00, the volume “The obsession with the ancient. Sigmund Freud and Ludwig Pollak between Judaism, archeology and collecting ”, curated by Roberta Ascarelli and Orietta Rossini and created by the Jewish Museum Foundation of Rome – Editions ע t.
The publication collects the proceedings of the conference held in Rome in April 2019 at the Palazzo Braschi headquarters, in collaboration with the Capitoline Superintendency, the Jewish Community of Rome and the Italian Psychoanalytic Society. The volume focuses on the figures of Pollak and Freud, from Italy to Austria: the study of collecting is intertwined with the birth of psychoanalysis and in this context Freud is an examiner, but also examined. The interventions collected in this volume are dedicated to Pollak and Freud and their interest in the past.
The event, promoted by the Jewish Museum of Rome and organized in collaboration with the Jewish Community of Rome, will open with the greetings of the President of the Foundation for the Jewish Museum of Rome, Alessandra Di Castro. The meeting will be attended by Barbara Jatta, Director of the Vatican Museums, Anna Maria Nicolò, former President of the Italian Psychoanalytic Society and Claudio Parisi Presicce, Director of the Capitoline Museums. Moderated by Olga Melasecchi, Director of the Jewish Museum of Rome.
